Construction Manager, Power Generation - Memphis

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today, SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of making life multiplanetary and expanding consciousness to the stars. SpaceXSI is building Super Intelligence to help humanity understand the universe. Our teams are building the full Super Intelligence stack: from our Colossus supercomputers, to Grok models, to our suite of applications, including Grok Bot, Grok Build, Grok Imagine, Grok Voice, and X. We're creating a powerful flywheel where more compute trains better models, better models power more useful products, and what we learn from people using those products shapes what we build next. ABOUT THE ROLE: We’re seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead mission-critical build efforts for on-site power generation. As a key on-site leader, you’ll bring credibility, expertise, and steady leadership to fast-paced, high-impact plant projects. You’ll own site relationships, collaborate with engineering, operations, and construction teams, and report to construction leadership. If you thrive on hands-on leadership, complex industrial and electrical construction, and delivering gas turbine generation, balance-of-plant, and medium-voltage infrastructure at scale, join us to help build the power plant that supports SpaceXSI's high-density AI supercomputing facilities. This is a full-time, onsite role based in Southaven, MS with relocation required. RESPONSIBILITIES: Act as the senior construction representative for the Memphis / Southaven power generation plant, managing relationships with EPC contractors, OEMs, trade partners, and internal stakeholders. Oversee end-to-end project execution from pre-construction and site development through mechanical completion, commissioning, energization, and turnover to operations. Coordinate multiple vendors across civil, mechanical, process, and electrical scopes — including gas turbine packages, generators, fuel gas and BOP systems, e-houses, protection, and 34.5 kV collect/export. Proactively identify and mitigate risks to schedule, quality, safety, and operational readiness for first fire, synchronization, and commercial operation. Drive progress on generation and BOP construction, resolving field roadblocks so turbine, electrical, and process work stay sequenced and on track. Align construction schedules with SpaceXSI's generation and infrastructure goals through cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, and central construction. Partner with engineering and operations to guide commissioning, start-up, and punchlist close-out; resolve issues that block energization or generation. Deliver regular updates using well-designed KPIs and dashboards for internal and external stakeholders. Ensure the project meets technical and quality standards in the base design, including plant electrical, mechanical, and process systems. Perform quantity take-offs and field verifications to monitor progress and support reporting. Manage change orders, identifying solutions to minimize unnecessary changes and control costs. Lead site safety initiatives, including LOTO, NFPA 70E / arc-flash, hot work, and a consistent construction safety culture. Adapt to evolving plant needs, supporting cross-functional partners as required, regardless of original job scope. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 5+ years of experience managing large-scale power generation, industrial plant, or other mission-critical construction projects. Deep expertise in construction management, commissioning, and site operations. Proven ability to lead on-site with authority and build trust with vendors, OEMs, partners, and technical teams. Experience managing large programs with multiple vendors and dynamic priorities. Strong communication skills across disciplines, from field updates to technical escalations. Thrives in solving complex, real-time problems with adaptability and composure. Be able to travel as needed. PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Direct experience constructing or expanding gas turbine, combined-cycle, or similar generating plants. Experience with medium-voltage electrical construction (switchgear, transformers, e-houses, collect/export, protection) and mechanical / process BOP (fuel gas, water, compressed air). Experience with OEM turbine package installation, interconnection, and commissioning support. Previous experience on power plants serving data centers, hyperscale, or other high-reliability industrial loads. Familiarity with local Memphis / Mississippi building codes, utility interconnection, and plant permitting. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex construction challenges in an operating or near-operating plant. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Position is subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing. Position is subject to pre-employment and annual post-employment background checks. Comfortable working in an environment requiring exposure to noise. Available to work evenings and weekends, as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is required. Ability to lift 25+ pounds. SpaceXSI is an equal opportunity employer. For details on data processing, view our Recruitment Privacy Notice .
